Meeting online is now as acceptable as meeting in person. Our Hulah team cares about you having great experiences while always staying safe so please read below about common safety practices while using our App.We strongly advise that whether you’re messaging, video dating or meeting in person, use your best judgment and always make decisions with your own safety in mind first.
Reporting on Safety
If a person does anything you believe violates our Community Rules, or our Terms of Use, or breaks a law, or does something you find offensive or suspicious, please immediately Contact Us and report it. If you ever feel you are in any danger, immediately dial 911.
Feeling Uncomfortable / Consent
If you feel uncomfortable at any time during messaging, video dates or in person, then end the interaction. You can say goodbye or say nothing at all.If you’re not comfortable then trust how you feel, make a safe decision and ask for help if it’s necessary. Don’t do anything that you do not Consent to first. There is no substitute for acting with caution when communicating with any stranger who wants to meet you.
Sharing your Personal Information
If you do not know a person well enough to where trust has been established, do not share your home or work address, telephone, email, social media accounts, other contact information, or any information that discloses locations in your routine that you frequent.Never share passwords to anything, social security number, driver’s license, banking or financial account information or other sensitive personal information.
Sharing your Kids’ Information
If you have children and if you do not know a person well enough to where trust has been established and others you trust also know the person, do not share your kids names, ages or school information.
Sending Money and Financial Scams
Never send anyone you meet online any money through any means no matter what they claim their situation is or what benefit you may receive.
Take your Time Getting to Know Someone Online
Interact on Hulah until you feel comfortable to interact off of it. Be cautious of users that move to fast for you or ask for things that you are not comfortable giving. Similar to how you would build a relationship offline, use the same practice and process while online. Ask as many questions as you need to feel comfortable before you decide to go to the next step of interaction. If or when you decide to meet in person, until you have developed trust, always meet at a public place with other people around.
Share with Friends and Family
Just as you would offline, we suggest for your safety that you share with family and friends your interactions and plans you make online.When meeting someone from online in person, always keep your cell phone on, keep it fully charged with GPS enabled and use tracking apps from the app store.
Transport Yourself
If or when you decide to meet in person, always be in control of your transportation so you can decide when you want to leave.It is always best to drive yourself or have a friend or family member drive you or join.
Be Responsible and Aware
Drugs and Alcohol will affect and impair your awareness and decision making.Make responsible decisions when deciding to partake and do not allow any pressure to affect your choices.Always control and keep a close eye on your drinks as drugs can be inserted that will go undetected until you are affected. Any time you choose to partake, always keep your personal items including your cell phone on you during the duration.
